Professional sculptor Stefanie Rocknak beat out 265 other artists from 42 states and 13 countries to create a sculpture honoring author and poet Edgar Allan Poe that will be displayed in Boston, Poe’s birthplace. A five-member artist selection committee decided on Rocknak’s stunning work that shows Poe with a suitcase in hand and a raven in front of him.

No wonder she won, holy butts, look at that majestic creature.

Negli uccelli, dove le risorse sono abbondanti, si ha in genere una tendenza alla poliginia (un maschio si accoppia con più femmine) perché non occorrono le cure di entrambi i genitori per allevare la prole.

Negli ambienti in cui le risorse sono scarse o difficili da reperire, le specie ornitiche tendono ad essere monogamiche, con il maschio che aiuta attivamente la femmina nell’allevamento della nidiata.

Ci sono ambienti particolari, come la tundra, in cui le risorse sono facili e abbondanti ma presenti per un periodo di tempo molto breve. In questo caso si può avere una monogamia particolare: la femmina produce due covate in due nidi diversi, affidando al maschio l’incombenza della cova e dell’allevamento dei pulcini in uno dei due nidi.
